Its the most wonderful time of the year! (Please tell me I wasn’t the only one to sing that)….
That’s a super appropriate way to start because as I’m writing this (in late September), its not really acceptable to utter the word ‘Christmas’ yet. Right now, it sends so many people (including me) into a panic because as the saying goes: “So much to do, so little time!” But that is exactly why I find myself starting now. December 1st is the beginning of Blogmas. My first attempt! Having posts ready months in advance is so unusual for me, but I am starting now in the hope that I’ll be at least a little ready for the daily Christmas-ness that is about to unfold…
I’m easing myself in with my personal goals for this month and for the New Year. I’ve chosen three main ones, so here’s hoping that this time, I’ll be able to keep them up!
Become More Organised
You guessed it. But it would be silly not to mention this given that practically seconds ago, I talked about my lack of post management. In fact, writing a Christmas post this early in advance is about the most ‘managed’ I can get! Its quite a frustrating habit of mine actually. I would brainstorm a post idea, take photos and write it up within a matter of days. This month, and in the months that follow, I want to be organised on the blog front. Yes, that means having posts planned in advance. In my mind right now, this seems like an impossible task. But I’m determined to invest more time into keeping my blog updated regularly. For me I know the little things will make a world of difference, so that’s where I’m going to start. Planning with detail and earlier post preparation is key. I might even start scheduling posts and tweets….
In becoming more organised, I also plan to combat some of the pressure I feel. Creating a post that I’m proud of is so important to me, as I’m sure it is for lots of other bloggers, and I put a lot of pressure on myself to make it just right. But its not always easy to do that when I don’t give myself enough time. I want to feel a bit more in control. So, attempting to be more organised is the start.
Experiment with Adventure
Everybody has their comfort zone. And I love mine. Very rarely do I like to step outside of it. I love adventure, but only such that take me within the safe realms of said comfort zone. Even as a nearly 21 year old, the whole prospect scares me. I plan to change that. From the little things, like venturing out to the shops on my own and meeting new people all the way up to world domination! Ok small steps. But one day, with the help of a smile and a dash of confidence, I’ll get there. I was recently reminded that however scary or difficult something may seem, doing it enough times means it becomes a part of your comfort zone and its not scary anymore. So, thats the plan. Adventure awaits and I am ready!
After all, what is life but one grand adventure.
Look to the Future
And that leads smoothly on to my final goal of the month – looking to the future. I’ve never been one for looking ahead, I focus mainly on what I’m doing now. But I know that I need to look further. I’m already in my twenties and I’m not at all settled on a career path. Maybe this blog is my future, who knows? But throughout this month and the next year of my life, I want to explore those options. Because if now isn’t the time, when is? Its not all about a career though. On a personal level, I just want to try and take each stage of my life, and work at making it better, however that may be. Of course, no one can tell exactly what the future will hold, but if I really work at it, I know mine will be a bright one. If I just let myself believe it.
So there we have it, my December and 2018 goals. Do you have any goals or resolutions you want to fulfil? I’d love to hear about them in the comments. Hopefully, I’ll be able to keep them up – I’ll be sure to keep you updated on my progress and share any tips I may have with you.
That went quick, day one done already! I’m so excited to have started my Blogmas journey…. Buckle yourselves in – 11 days to go!
