Here we are again!
Today I’m back with a Christmas-themed Q & A. I’ve wanted to do one of these for a while so I’m super excited! I love Christmas, and I love talking about it too so I thought this would be perfect. Way back in September I asked via Twitter for Christmas related questions and that is exactly what I got! Here are my answers…
What is your favourite thing about Christmas?
I’ve answered this question in my Liebster Award blog post and I’m going to start my answer in exactly the same way as I did then. What’s NOT my favourite thing about Christmas?! Sorry for being totally predictable but naming just one thing is not how I roll. If you’ve been reading my blog for a while you may know that.
So in keeping with that little theme of mine, I mentioned no less than nine things I love about Christmas in that post. If you want to read my full answer to help you get into the spirit, you can do so here. And merely typing it, I got way too excited! Since then, I’ve been willing the festive season to arrive, so I can finally enjoy all of these things. And I can safely say that I have!
One of your most favourite Christmas memories?
Did anyone else’s parents used to drive them around where you lived to look at all the Christmas lights? As a child, we would all bundle up in the car when it got dark to do just that. And it was great fun. Granted, I did fall asleep a few times… oops. But despite that, its my favourite memory to look back on. It was the most magical thing, when everything started to feel just that little bit more festive. Plus, it was great fun to guess which house had the most Christmas lights of them all. We used to do this most years, but we haven’t done it in a long time. I say this is the year I bring it back.
Do you have any Christmas traditions?
Our Christmas traditions have changed a lot over the years, but there are a few that have stuck around as I’ve gotten older. One of my favourite, and most exciting, things is actually decorating the Christmas tree. Every year, without fail, my Mum, my sister and I do this together (whilst listening to Christmas music, because why not)? Its around this time that everything starts to feel super festive for me and I frickin’ love it!
Another thing we do every year is put together a Christmas food box. This actually starts months in advance. From around October, we’re constantly on the lookout for Christmas treats. And more often than not, we get carried away, so its actually more like Christmas food boxes. Right now, we now have all manner of Christmas snacks stored away ready to eat which really excites me! We can’t really keep tabs on everything we’ve collected, so its nice to open it up and find a few surprises inside, like a good old tub of Pringles (or six)….
On the subject of food, I also love doing Christmas baking. This is something I’ve only started doing in the last few years, but I’ll call it a tradition because I’ve managed to keep it up. And yes, I’m really proud of that. I take the whole thing so seriously, even planning in advance. They’re not particularly fancy recipes but I just love doing it. I’ve made (and iced) Christmas biscuits, and with the help of my sister I’ve also done a gingerbread house! I plan on doing it again this year, so If you have any suggestions of things I could bake, I would love to hear them!
And what is Christmas without an advent calendar of course?!
What are your Top 5 favourite Christmas songs?
I think the only one I can say for sure would be in my list would be Wham’s Last Christmas. Whenever I hear it, I just get all the festive feels! I love so many other Christmas songs that its tough to pick just five, but I do love listening to the classics this time of year – Slade, Shakin’ Stevens, Wizzard… And anything sung by Michael Buble. Basically anything quintessentially Christmas!
Anyone else want to binge all the Christmas playlists now?
What is your favourite festive food?
Ooohh this is a tough one! For me, I would say its probably a Yule Log, simply because I just love chocolate – and cake! Its just super delicious. Gingerbread is a firm favourite too. Not only does it taste great, but it makes the most wonderful scented hand cream ever!
I love a classic roast dinner at Christmas too. So although its not really a festive food, I just have to give stuffing a mention. Weird, but its actually one of my favourite elements of Christmas dinner. Given the chance I could and probably would eat a whole bowl of it. Not sure whether that’s the most flattering mental image of me…..
I’m feeling super festive now! A big thank you to all who submitted questions, I hope you loved reading this post as much as I loved writing it….
Please do let me know your answers to any of these questions in the comments below. And I’ll be back again tomorrow, when the festivities will continue!
